About Course

This course will review the important medical aspect of aging, such as exercise, cognitive health and the importance of purpose to avert depression. 

Important Note: This is covering various aspects of aging that may become important in the course of overseeing an Oasis. However, please keep in mind that you will not be running a medical Day-Program, but ready to recognize how you can help prevent downfall. A Social Program is not a Day Program that requires special requirements and State Licensing.

Cognitive Health
This lesson will cover various aspect of nutritional recommendation. At Oasis, we recommend to offer a significant meal at lunch. The reasons are as follow: 1. To insure best nutrition. 2. To give a respite to people possibly involved in the care of an older adult. This is why we would like to seed some important points for your member and kitchen staff.

Communication
Communication is often overlooked but essential to happiness and social involvement.

Aging Normal & Abnormal
This will cover some of the aspect of normal aging and abnormal aging that may need addressing. To enjoy being at an Oasis one needs to have his best faculties. This course aims to help recognize the fine lines so it can be addressed with members or member's family since many are correctable,

A Montessori Program for people with Dementia
The majority of your members will not have dementia, but if some of your members do need it, you will be able to provide a separate group with more supervision and will need programs for them. This lesson shows an approach used for resident of a retirement community that is perfect to keep a sense of purpose in that group.

Final Exam
This Exam will go over what you have learned in all three courses. The goal of this exam is to assess your general understanding and assimilation of the Oasis Concept.
